Imagine being able to find someone who may not realise they have a powerful locator in their pocket? Someone who didn’t think they were in any danger of needing rescue and so didn’t carry a traditional locator device, beacon or radio.

2015/16 saw some 436 people assisted by LANDSAR services in New Zealand, with 50 lives saved

By contrast, consider that at least 71% of NZ households have Cell Phones and over 90% of  people own one!

The Searchlight concept neatly matches high cell phone ownership to the high number of people who become lost or stranded in everyday situations – vehicle accidents on remote roads, slips on a short walk, unexpected changes in river or tidal conditions to name just a few scenarios

The Searchlight Concept is based around utilising the technology that people use in the real world and making it work harder for the benefit of search and rescue services
